feld hommes video: coming soon!
some more stills of the film we´ve done -adam rankin and myself with the amazing edition input of robert, all the way from australia! - for feld hommes magazine and i must say that filming is exciting.
is like telling a story and playing with a few more elements than the frozen seconds i get when i work with just photography. i love it!
i think that this visual story we did with the model alex dunstan is coming up nice. i really like the texture we´ve got filming it. shaky, raw, melancholic and beautiful with the colors. cant wait to have it all ready to show it on the blog and the magazine.

konrad, münchen
i love to find beatiful boys and girls in the streets of münchen and see if there is a way to do things with them more with modelling or fashion direction. i saw konrad in a bar in münchen and came back home like thinking, wow i want to do an editorial with this boy, he was so fresh that i took a shitty photo with a mobile camera where you couldnt see anything but fortunately yesterday he came to the studio shooting we had so, , i could finally take some proper photos of him. a bit better than with the handy.

Aveces.

torino, piamonte italiano.
we were for a few days in turin working for a music label.
and is nice to experiment what their job is from the other side.
felt a bit like a spy, in the search for the perfect cover shoot.
all the actors involved.
the pr.
the director of the label.
the artist.
the mother of the artist.
the photographer.
they all need to get to a common point, which is
never an easy thing to do. but it was such a interesting experience to
do it for other people.
and in turino.
also because it means to take a break and go to another country,
get out of munich, travel by the alps,
switzerland, austria, and get to italy.
lakes, glaciars, waterfalls and all those heidi looking houses at
the hills of the mountains.
i love to work with detlef because we sort of create a small home-office
at the hotels wherever we have to stay, wherever we are.
and the pics are coming out beautiful.
and the always great italian food. ;)

des artistes
I´ve got these beautiful tshirts as a present from Polly and Frederick Bäumler, the owners of des artistes, such a beautiful idea that mixes art and nice fashion. What they do at des artistes is to give artists whose work they admire- like Ai Weiwei, Kera Till, Franco Mondini-Ruiz and Olga Bäumler among others- the chance to create an exclusive art piece to use it as a motive for limited edition t-shirts. In their own words: "Des artistes is an eco-conscious label introducing works from emerging and notable contemporary artists. Every limited edition tee is a canvas for inspiration and an exhibition of the human spirit". Which i think is lovely. And so are their tees.
this one is from Duane Hosein, who is described by des artistes as a New York based artist, illustrator and insomniac. The majority of his childhood was spent hiding behind the pages of a book and drawing at the dining room table. The one below is from Helga Bäumler, an excelent artist who pursuited her career as a fashion illustrator and designer in the sixties.
I really love them because they are made with organic cotton mixed with bamboo that feels great on the skin: soft and nice even the first time you wear them. yep!
vielen lieben Dank des artistes,
vielen lieben Dank, Polly und Frederick! ; )

a conversation with lawrence wiener
i met lawrence wiener last week in an opening. he is a cool man, not so nostalgic for the past, even though he was one of the creators of what now is called conceptual art- something quite big here in germany if you study fine arts and that is mainly based on that every single work of art may have a concept behind it. which is fine to me but sometimes can be an excuse to show quite many pieces of mediocre work, or mediocre concepts behind it, as you want to see it, under the name of "contemporary art". i mean i love some stuff when is so smart that you cant avoid being surprised, and lawrence is a great artist. works with words. my main passion. but this is more or less how part of the conversation went.
elena-lawrence i want you to meet florencia, she is a great musician.
florencia-well, not really, or maybe im really shy, but nice to meet you lawrence.
lawrence- im shy as well, dont worry, is quite normal to do something creative and be shy at the same time. should i speak german, or english or french?
florencia- english or german are fine. so you are also shy hhh??- i just look around and we are in an opening in a really prestigious museum of art in germany, surrounded by lots of supposely intellectual people, all very burgués and much older than me- and how do you fight against it?
lawrence- scotch...-says lawrence showing up the glass-..
florencia- yeah, i did it so for a while, before the concerts and so. i was always really nervous because im a actually quite a shy person. gin tonic and so, but really was a bit extreme...
lawrence- yeah when i was your age, i used to do it the same way...but dont worry, because sometimes you need it...and how come you are here florencia?
florencia- well, i used to work here but somehow for me is a bit strict...
lawrence- yess...it is strict...but i can deal with it, what really makes me a bit strange is like this need they have to think that we should know about everyyyything. like today in the press conference, they start talking about the "back then", which was when?...40 years ago, thats such a long time ago...and they pretended me to make an essay about the good old times, and so...and im like thinking to myself. why are they asking me questions about so many things?...i just know how to do one thing...and i do it well, because you know florencia, is also fine to do well something. we dont have to feel bad about it, or guilty...
florencia- i know but sometimes is like this feeling that some people feel molested when they see that somebody else do something well. or that is doing well with a creative path they develop...
lawrence- yes, thats true, but the truth florencia is: that it is ok. even though if we have to drink a bit of alcohol once in a while to be able to satisfy all the people we work with.
florencia- yes, youre right. so this thing of doing well one thing is cool. youre gifted then.
lawrence- well, im not gifted. im skilled. ive learnt within the years how to do it well. is a question of experience. ive learnt it. and now im good at it. and is okkkkkk...
and the conversation went to different paths, but lawrence was cool. or his mindset was cool. it made me feel really confortable after so long without being at the museum.
back to earth. and learning to do something. always learning.

langweilige postkarten by phaidon
hi, everybody. im really excited about finding this great book edited by the german editorial phaidon. i love it!
the book is called "boring postcards" -translated to english- and is just a bounch of old german postcards- from the 40´s to 70´s where you can see how germany´s sense of aesthetics was back then.
actually, is a book over the personal collection of the english photographer martin parr. he has been collected this postcards for years and phaidon thought it was cool enough to make a beautiful book out of it.
i am a great fan of this sort of german thing-sense of equilibrium-. i still love to find old corners in munich with that same spirit quite a few years after all this postcards were published and go to the floh markts looking for amazing furniture staff.
