Formentera, Visual Notes

formentera is a tiny island close to ibiza that you can reach just by boat. is the perfect place to relax if you go at the end of the summer. a must while youre there is to go and have dinner at can toni, an amazing hidden restaurant in la mola. we met lots of nice people and had marvellous food. all seems to be still in the 70´s. feels like the cote d'azur but with the relaxedness of the balearic islands. you should go there. is nice!

My great grandpa´s Lugagge _Following the Roots

Photobucket This is the suitcase that my great grandpa Enrique Holt used to take with for his travels around Europe. We got it back in one of my dad´s latest travel to Argentina, where our family lives. I have a big traveller´s family, from both my mums -more italian rooted- and my dad´s -german/english/southernfrench-. This beautiful treasure still has the hotel tags and stickers that he got while staying in the diferent hotels back when travelling was a big thing. I want to go to all these hotels -at least the ones that still exist- before i die, to follow the roots of a traveller family.
Many important things have happened in hotels in my family.
We are nomads.
These are  some of the hotels i have to go following the roots of the golden age of travel of my dad´s family :

London: Cineroleum- A Petrol Station Cinema

Hi there! we´re just amazed and really really happy lately. Since the beginning of 2012 we have been working with one of our clients about the smart city concept - stay tuned since our latests project will be presented soon! -. And after confrontating ourselves with terms like kilowatts and "the grid", ac/dc and a bounch of other shinny and hitech words , we realized that we are fascinated and deeply in love with this new upcoming side of cities. Sudenly all seems to pay attention to things that really matter and to see how many great iniciatives are coming from cities all over the globe in terms of reusing their existing and not used spaces to make them something useful for the population using a more sustainable energetic aproach and arquitecture is really great. A smarter concept of city is something we deeply believe in and that from here, we´re also trying to expand! ou yeah! Lets keep it just there! Today wednesday were presenting you the Cineroleum, a nice idea that took over the first old petrol station in London to transform it into a pop up cinema. All made up with recicled materials and that looks amazing! The derelict petrol station,100 Clerkenwell Road, London, EC1M 4RJ Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket "This summer a derelict petrol station on Clerkenwell Road will be transformed into a hand-built cinema celebrating the extravagance and ceremony of the picture palace. Primarily constructed using donated and found materials; The Cineroleum will be an improvisation of the decadent interiors that greeted audiences during cinema's golden age. Popcorn, paper tickets, elaborate signage and flip-down seats will collectively recreate the familiar excitement of cinema-going. Enclosed by an ornate curtain strung from the forecourt roof, The Cineroleum will host screenings from sundown four nights a week. With a programme of off-beat classics that celebrate the social experience of watching the big screen, stars from Buster Keaton to Barbarella will flicker, dance and shoot their way over The Cineroleum screen. Just as the drive-ins of 1950's America brought cinema out from its enclosures and into suburbia, The Cineroleum will be a street-side cinema that is truly exposed to the city. The project has been conceived and built by a collective of young artists, designers and architects committed to the creative re-use of urban spaces. With 4,000 petrol stations currently lying derelict in the UK, this pilot project demonstrates the potential for their transformation as exciting and unusual spaces for public use." berlin: clärchens ballhaus/ are you ready for a Tanzabend?

this is probably the most amazing place ive been in 2012 so far and is in berlin. a dance salon which wasnt destroyed by the war? opened in 1913, and then all those 19th century amaaaazinnng details. in mitte. and then with this secret mirror saal on one of the floors of the building? -right at the bottom of this post- this decadent elegance of the secret corners of berlin mitte just makes me goo mad of pleasure. if you were wondering how was berlin before and during the wars, you shouldnt miss it. of course, is a must if you like to dance tango and things like that, thats when you get the people with the floaty dresses and the high heels and the musicians start to show up and take out their contrabass and other instruments. a Tanzabend in 2012 seems to be the coolest shit ever, dont forget that The orchestra will be playing for you while you order the dry martinis and sit with your buddies in the long tables, all very 1900´s. we really really loved this amazing corner.
